Help Animals Affected by the Western Cape Wildfires

Where to Donate (Verified Organisations)

Your donation directly supports rescue, emergency veterinary care, shelter, and recovery for animals affected by wildfires.

How to Report a Fire

If you see a fire or smoke, report it immediately. Early reporting can prevent fires from spreading and save lives, homes, and animals.

Emergency fire reporting numbers (Western Cape):

  • 112 – National emergency number (from any mobile phone in South Africa)
  • 107 – Fire and rescue (landlines, City of Cape Town)
  • 021 480 7700 – City of Cape Town Public Emergency Call Centre

If the fire is active, spreading, or threatening people or animals, call 112 first.

Important

  • Do not attempt to fight fires yourself unless instructed by authorities.
  • Keep a safe distance and follow evacuation instructions.
  • If animals are trapped or injured, report the fire first, then contact animal welfare organisations once emergency services are aware.

A Final Note

Animal welfare teams and volunteers are working around the clock under dangerous conditions to rescue and care for animals affected by the wildfires.

Donations, no matter the size, help ensure they can continue this critical work.

Every action counts.
